JAKARTA - A positive step from the Government in providing subsidies for domestically produced electric vehicle products, triggering MG Indonesia to immediately produce their electric vehicle portfolio in the country.

"Certainly, with the good incentives from the Government, it will encourage high adoption to switch to electric vehicles. If later our portfolio (MG) can be well received, why not, MG will localize its electric products. That is indeed our top priority (factories)," said Marketing and PR Director of MG Motor Indonesia, Arief Syarifuddin as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 20.

According to him, the trend that is currently developing positively in both the world and Indonesia has made MG with its various portfolios ready to compete in presenting green vehicles in Indonesia.

Although his party has not been able to receive subsidies for electric vehicles in Indonesia, his party really appreciates the Government's steps in developing the electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia.

With this, his party believes that many consumers will switch from conventional vehicles to environmentally friendly vehicles thanks to the presence of this subsidy.

"An important step definitely needs to be taken for a new ecosystem, we really appreciate the Government's steps in presenting subsidies for EVs. This step can trigger consumers to switch to electric vehicles from conventional vehicles that are not easy to do in various countries," he explained.

He also reiterated that his party is indeed very serious in the competition for electric vehicles, both in Indonesia and in destination countries where MG is marketed.

"MG is very serious in electrification. In the near future we will be for domestic production," he said.

By producing local vehicles, his party believes that consumers will benefit more in terms of prices that will be more affordable, even though the features and technologies provided are very abundant.

Currently, MG already has a portfolio of electric vehicles in Indonesia by presenting MG4 EVs which have received very well in the local automotive market, namely 1,200 units of vehicles have been ordered, although there is no definite price.

MG4 EV in Indonesia already has the Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature. Through this feature, MG4 EV is able to distribute electrical power capable of up to 2.2 kilowatts through adapters to other media such as cellphones, laptop computers, and even musical equipment.
