JAKARTA - Google launched 20 new themes for its users' Chrome browser background, as a commemoration of the Asian Pacific American Heritage Month (APAHM), during May.

In making the new theme, the search giant said that they were working with five professional artists from Asia-American and the Pacific Islands, including Subin Yang, Eve Liu, Shyama Kuver, Ashley Lukashevsky, and Kh Wayhi B Wayo Phm.

"We have assigned five Asian-American and Pacific Islands artists to design 20 new Chrome browser themes," said Interaction Designer Courtney Kim in a Google blog.

For Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, #Chrome commissioned AAPI artists @ashlukadraws, @1111orb1111, @HeartOverCrown, Khôi Bảo Phạm and Subin Yang to design custom desktop browser themes.Learn about the collection → https://t.co/PtLbJ9Qjmt #APAHM pic.twitter.com/TQJ6vFcLs2

Furthermore, Kim also mentioned that the collection of themes reflects the unique background and experiences of each artist, and celebrates diversity in the Asian community.

"Growing as a Japanese Korean-American, I often struggle to feel like I have, even among other Asian people, have never felt enough Japanese or Korean," Kim added when telling his personal experience.

"However, traveling to Honolulu, where my father grew up, showed me the true mix of Asian culture. That journey ultimately helped me see and appreciate the nuances in different Asian communities, including my community which was beautifully recorded in this collection," he concluded.

To implement one of the APAHM themes, you just need to go to the Chrome browser on your computer, and visit the Chrome Web Store collection, select the theme and click "Add to Chrome".

You can also open a new tab in Chrome and click the "Sesuaikan Chrome" button at the bottom right to explore the collection.

One of the creators of Chrome's new theme, Ashley Lukashevsky with her work "Drum Circle" tells about the spirit of the ranks of the Korean people's genderators.

This illustration captures the spirit of the line-breaking of the Korean people's genders. Gender drummers are Koreans with diaspora from various levels of society, playing together to connect with the basic strengths of their ancestors," explained Lukashevsky.
