JAKARTA - Recently, NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) technology has become increasingly widely used in various industries, and has now reached the aviation sector. Argentina's airline, Flybondi, is the first to adopt NFT in the process of purchasing aircraft tickets.

Using this technology, Flybondi wants to improve the user experience with an unprecedented system. They created a system called Ticket 3.0 built on the Algorand blockchain.

In its official announcement on Thursday, March 30, Flybondi said that Ticket 3.0 would allow passengers to change names, transfer tickets, and even sell boarding passes independently in the secondary market. This will be the first time an airline has issued an airplane ticket in the form of an NFT.

Through Ticket 3.0, passengers will have a more flexible travel experience. They can buy tickets long ago without having to change the travel plans or decisions of who to go. With this technology, Flybondi hopes to reduce operating costs and increase revenue through NFT trading costs.

NFT ticketing company TravelX will not charge when users first buy flight tickets in the form of NFT. However, both parties will receive a 2 percent discount from trading on the secondary market.

Passengers can now book flight tickets via the Flybondi website using fiat currency, and TravelX will issue an NFT flight ticket above the e-regular ticket. Passengers can then create a Ticket 3.0 account to store digital assets via airline websites.

"By launching Ticket 3.0 technology, we want to have a positive impact in the aviation industry through blockchain technology innovation and applications," said Mauricio Sana as CEO of Flybondi, quoted from DailyCoin.

"Changing game rules is not easy, but we know that our goal is to evolve and offer our passengers a new phase of freedom in air travel," Sana added.

Using this technology, Flybondi hopes to expand the use of blockchain technology in the aviation sector, improve customer experience, and optimize their operational costs.
