JAKARTA - Meta Platforms Inc. is reportedly testing the user's ability to be able to access Messenger through the main Facebook app.

As we all know, Meta has long shared Facebook's messaging feature with Messenger, which was in 2014. At that time, the company said it wanted to make Messenger the best mobile messaging tool for users.

But, after nearly nine years apart Messenger from Facebook, it seems that Facebook has other plans for its messaging tools.

"We're testing people's ability to access their Messenger inbox in the Facebook app and you'll see us expand this test soon," Facebook chief Tom Alison said in an announcement.

"In the end, we want to be easy and comfortable for people to connect and share, either on the Messenger app or directly on Facebook."

In the same blog, Meta also mentions that they want to give people the best experience using AI technology to make it easier for them to share what they find on Facebook via messaging, when, where, and in a way that suits their needs, without the need to switch to other apps.

Currently, Meta notes that there are more than 140 billion messages sent through the application of Meta every day. On Instagram, there are 1 billion people who have shared Reel via DM, as well as on Facebook.

"In the coming year, we will build more ways to integrate messaging features on Facebook. In the end, we want to be easy and comfortable for people to connect and share, either on the Messenger app or directly on Facebook."
