JAKARTA - Snapchat's parent, Snap is the latest company to enter the Artificial Intelligence (AI) race by launching My AI, an OpenAI GPT-based chatbot.
Now, My AI is available as an experimental feature for Snapchat+ paid subscribers priced at 3.99 US dollars equivalent to IDR 60 thousand per month.
My AI will be embedded at the top of the Chat tab. Just like ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing, Snap chatbots are trained to have a fun, light tone, like a unique personality that plays a role in its values of friendship, learning, and fun
In addition, My AI also offers creative ideas such as gifts for friends' birthday events or writing poetry about certain topics. This tool is also trained to comply with application trust and security guidelines.
"My AI can recommend a birthday gift idea for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a tribute to cheese for your friends who are obsessed with cheddar," Snap said in a blog post.
"Make My AI yours by giving him a name and adjusting the wallpaper for your Chat," he added.
Snap also said where chatbots are prone to hallucinations, and may cheat to say anything, therefore it advises users not to rely on bots for advice.
The company seemed to be insinuating Bing, which was recently updated with OpenAI's GPT-4 model. A week after the launch, people started posting strange and terrifying responses they received from search engines, after which Microsoft acknowledged Bing could be provoked to respond beyond designed tones.
Seeing that, Snap is one step ahead in dealing with a situation similar to its own chatbot, warning My AI there are still many shortcomings and earlier apologizing to new chatbot users.
Launching TechCrunch, Tuesday, February 28, My AI is not acting as a search engine. But seen as a persona in Snapchat that users can chat with like they do with friends.
All conversations with My AI will be saved and can be reviewed to improve product experience. Snap also warns users should not share any secrets with My AI.
Snap invites users to send feedback by pressing and holding back any messages from My AI.
