JAKARTA - After sacking thousands of workers recently, Google is now asking employees who still live in the office to share tables and days to enter the office.

The information is known to come from Google's leaked internal FAQ documents, where the plan will affect the Cloud division. Google asks its employees to share their day in the office, either Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday, so they can share the table with other people.

Employees can enter in undetermined days, but they will use one room for the entire division.

"Through the matching process, they [employees] will agree on setting the ground table and set norms with their desk partners and teams to ensure positive experiences in the new joint environment," said CNBC International's internal Google FAQ document, quoted Friday, February 24.

Currently, Google is preparing a group of 200 to 300 people who will have a vice president or director to ensure the table sharing program runs smoothly and the table remains clean and free of personal goods.

By asking employees to rotate the table room, Google will be able to minimize the use of its real estate. Several buildings will also be vacated as a result of the changes. The official name is Cloud Office Evolution.

According to Google, this is a frugal step that will allow the company to continue investing in Cloud growth.

The Cloud Division amounts to about a quarter of the full-time staff. However, the division was unfavorable. In the company's latest quarterly report, Google recorded a loss of nearly half a billion dollars associated with the Cloud unit.

"Since returning to the office, we have conducted trials and conducted surveys with Cloud employees to explore various hybrid work models and help form the best experience. Our data show Googler's Cloud value that guarantees face-to-face collaboration while they are in the office, such as and the option to work from home a few days each week," said a Google spokesperson.

"With this feedback, we have developed our new rotation model, combining the best of pre-pandemic collaboration with the flexibility and focus we all value from remote work, as well as allowing us to use our space more efficiently."

The table sharing program will be introduced in the five largest Google Cloud locations in the United States (US), such as media, Washington, New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, and Sunnyvale, California.
