JAKARTA - Google is finally preparing to overtake the ChatGPT market made by OpenAI, by starting testing a Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based chatbot called Apprentice Bard.

Apprentice Bard is a project under its cloud unit called Atlas, and a code red attempt to respond to ChatGPT.

In the company's internal documents and received information from a source about Google's efforts seen by CNBC International, quoted on Saturday, February 4, the chatbot made by Google is currently being tested by their own internal employees.

Where employees can ask questions and receive detailed answers similar to ChatGPT. Employees can enter questions in dialogue boxes and get answers in the form of text, then provide feedback on these answers.

Based on some responses, Apprentice Bard's answers can include recent events, a feature that ChatGPT doesn't yet have. Apprentice Bard uses Google LaMDA conversation technology, or Language Model for Dialogue Applications.

As a result of ChatGPT, the LaMDA team was asked to prioritize working on responses to ChatGPT. In the short term, this is prioritized over other projects," said one of the internal documents seen by CNBC International.

Apprentice Bard replacesTI, a previous version of the smart chat bot that had been launched internally but was later discontinued.

Furthermore, other product units are also testing a new search desktop design that can be used in question and answer form. One view shows the homepage search page offering five different requests for potential questions placed directly under the main search bar, replacing the existing blades.

The page also shows a small chat logo at the far far right of the search bar. When a question is entered, the search results display a gray bubble directly below the search bar, offering more human-like responses than usual search results.

Just below, the page suggests some further questions related to the first. Below, show distinctive search results, including links and headlines.

The Google team has also tested LaMDA beta chats with ChatGPT. In a separate document, he selects examples of clues and answers in coexistence comparisons.

One example asks the two chatbots to ask whether ChatGPT and AlphaCode, the coding machine owned by Alphabet's subsidiary, DeepMind, will replace the programmer.

"No, ChatGPT and AlphaCode won't replace programmers, programming is a team sport (and while chatbots) can help programmers work more efficiently, (it) can't replace the creativity and art needed for great programs," explained LaMDA.

A similar ChatGPT response, "ChatGPT or Alphacode is unlikely to replace programmers (because) they are not fully capable of replacing human programmer expertise and creativity, programming is a complex field that requires a deep understanding of principle computer science and the ability to adapt to new technologies," said ChatGPT.

Google's leaders have been asking for feedback from more employees about the effort in recent weeks.

For information, Google's latest move sees ChatGPT as a threat to its search business and indeed the company has planned to prepare its chatbot competitor.

Google is claimed to be demonstrating its search engine version with this year's chatbot feature and uncovering more than 20 AI-backed projects, some will launch at its I/O conference in May this year. In fact, they also attracted Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to return to work actively.
