The Indonesian Crypto Exchange is Ready to Launch Before June This Year

JAKARTA - The Minister of Trade, Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the Indonesian crypto exchange will be present before June this year.

The increasing number of crypto asset trading players in Indonesia (more than 16.55 million people) may be one of the reasons why crypto exchanges are presented.

Early last January, the Ministry of Trade revealed that the existence of this crypto exchange would make it easier for CoFTRA to obtain information from exchangers or trading actors.

"Of the 25 existing crypto exchanges, only about 5 are active. Hopefully, we will have a crypto exchange, and before June we will have launched the Indonesian crypto exchange," said Trade Minister Zulkifli at the 2023 Crypto Literacy Month event, which was held on Thursday, February 2 in Jakarta.

In addition, both Bappebti and ASPAKRINDO can enforce better crypto asset trading governance. ASPAKRINDO can provide input to CoFTRA as the regulator, and vice versa.

In the same event, Acting Head of Bappebti Didid Noordiatmoko said that the increase in crypto asset payments in Indonesia was not accompanied by further literacy about this industry.

"Many people do not really understand crypto assets. In Indonesia alone there are 16.55 million crypto asset customers, but the level of understanding is not going well. There are still platforms that have not been registered with Bappebti," Didid said.

So Didid revealed that the existence of BLK 2023 is really needed to build understanding in the community so that trading in crypto assets can be better.

"To convey awareness and suggestions for establishing better relationships between crypto asset actors," he concluded.

Supported by 25 members of ASPAKRINDO, communities, institutions, and parties related to the physical market trading of Crypto Assets in Indonesia, BLK 2023 will be held during February 2023 in several cities in Indonesia such as Jakarta, Medan, Semarang, Surabaya and Makassar both offline, online and hybrid.
