JAKARTA The leading smart contract platform, Ethereum, is reported to be getting an upgrade to Shanghai. But before that, the developer had conducted a trial first in a phase called the Shadow Fork.

In the Shanghai upgrade, the developer will allow the process of withdrawing from the at stake by the user. The Shanghai upgrade is likely to be implemented in March 2023.

Ethereum software developer Marius van der Wijden recently outlined that Shadow Fork had experienced a number of problems at 6, Monday, January 23.

"It started with some problems because the configuration didn't apply properly on Geth (we didn't allow for an overhaul of the mainnet configuration)," van der Wijden wrote on Twitter.

"For now, the network is being solved properly, let's see if Potuz and I can solve it," added Wijden.

Previously, the Ethereum community had a problem with the withdrawal on the media network. The reason is, around 16,167,527 ETH are still locked in the validator's contract. The Shanghai upgrade is aimed at opening the withdrawal of the tens of millions of ETH.

According to statistics from badminton.com, there are currently 504,765 validators who have staked their ETH in the network. In 2022, Ethereum successfully made the transition from Proof -of-Work (PoW) to Prof-of-Stake (PoS) in the phase of The Merger. The next test for the Ethereum development team is Shanghai Hard Fork which will take effect in March.
