JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO) has cut off access to seven sites and five social media groups containing content for buying and selling human organs since We, 12 January.

Through the Director General of Informatics Applications at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, Semuel A. Pangerapan stated that the termination of access was carried out in accordance with the request of the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim).

"We have received a letter from Bareskrim Polri yesterday and today. It asks Kominfo to cut off access to seven sites containing the data manipulation content," he said in a statement on the official Kominfo website.

This access termination was carried out after the murder case of an 11-year-old boy in Makassar by two teenagers, AD (17) and MF (15) with the motive of wanting to sell the victim's organs.

Prior to the termination, Samuel admitted that the AIS Kominfo Team had monitored several social media sites and accounts that were suspected of containing body organ buying and selling content.

The findings were then submitted directly to the Directorate of Cyber Crime, Bareskrim Polri, to confirm the violations that occurred.

Based on the results of the investigation, the seven sites violated Article 192 in conjunction with Article 64 paragraph (3) of Law no. 36 of 2009 concerning Health, which reads:

"Every person who deliberately trades organs or body tissue under any pretext as referred to in Article 64 paragraph (3) shall be sentenced to a maximum imprisonment of 10 (ten) years and a maximum fine of Rp. 1,000,000,000.00 (one billion rupiah)."

This termination has also been considered for indications of criminal acts of trading or body tissue under any pretext that is prohibited and very disturbing to the public. However, based on the results of profiling and analysis, all sites are different and made abroad.

Finally, Semuel also asked the public to immediately report to the Ministry of Communication and Information if they found similar sites so that they could be handled according to the applicable laws.
