JAKARTA - Tesla believes that technology can help improve safety. That's why Tesla's vehicle is designed to be the safest car in the world.

With that belief, Tesla rarely suffered serious damage in accidents. Even if a fire occurs, Tesla claims that sophisticated battery pack designs ensure that the security system functions properly and isolates the fire to select the area inside the battery while disposing of heat from the battery.

"While no car can prevent all accidents, we work every day to try to reduce the chance of an accident," Tesla wrote in its safety report.

Since 2018, Tesla has been trying to create benchmarks for improving Autopilot safety by releasing quarterly reports comparing the number of miles per crash on Autopilot versus Autopilot off.

Based on this data, in the third quarter of 2022, Tesla recorded one accident for every 6.26 million miles taken where the driver uses Autopilot technology.

For drivers who do not use Autopilot technology, the electric car manufacturer recorded one crash for every 1.71 million miles of travel.

In comparison, the latest available data from NHTSA and FHWA (from 2021) shows that in the United States there is a car accident approximately every 652,000 miles.

Despite only sharing numbers, Tesla said it had worked hard in launching active safety features for its users.

"We continue to improve safety features long after cars are delivered via over-the-air software updates," Tesla tweeted on Twitter.
