Tesla Has Reached 10,000 Supercharger Network in China

JAKARTA - Tesla announced that its Supercharger network in Mainland China has reached a milestone with 10,000 Superchargers.

Tesla's 10,000th supercharger built at the Supercharging jubilee was installed at the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Supercharging Station. Shanghai also has more than 100 stations and more than 1,000 kiosks.

The cumulative number of Tesla Super Charging stations in Mainland China currently stands at over 1,500, compared to 1,000 units in October 2021.

The first Tesla supercharger in China was installed in 2014, two years after the first installation in the US. Two years later, in 2016 the company reached a milestone with the installation of 100 stations.

Currently, with coverage of over 320 cities, Tesla's Supercharger charging network is considered one of the most densely populated and accessible in all mainland China.

Globally, according to InsideEVs, as of November 22, Tesla already has more than 40,000 Supercharging kiosks, while the number of stations may now be around 4,500.

The network is ten years old and is expected to enter another phase of expansion soon with the market launch of the new V4 version, ready for over 1 megawatt of power output.

It should be noted that in China, Tesla uses a different type of connector (compatible with China's GB/T standard for AC and DC charging) than in North America with NACS connectors) and in Europe (CCS2-compatible connectors).

This means that Tesla cars in North America or Europe are not directly compatible with Tesla's Supercharging network in China.
