JAKARTA - Google has started rolling out a new Smart Canvas feature in Docs, which is a code block. Collaborators can easily format and display codes in Docs with these new features.

The code block feature will automatically add appropriate spatial and color codes to various programming languages, such as201, C/C++, and Javascript.

Before this feature comes, while working in Google Docs, collaborators who want to present the code must paste it in the document and then apply the style manually by highlighting the syntax.

Now, this new feature gives users the ability to visualize codes with industry standards, make code readable and collaboration easier.

The code block feature also has different parts of the code displayed in different colors making it easier to read if there are more than one or two rows. The new feature has no admin controls.

To format and display the code in Docs, go to Insider click Building Blocks select Code Blocks and then select the relevant language. Collaborators can also type "@asset project" into the document to open the menu, similar to how to call emoji voters.

This feature may take a while to launch. Google said in a blog post quoted by The Verge, Friday, December 16, some people may not even have the code block feature until January 18, depending on their Workspace settings.

It is claimed, this code block feature will only be available to people with a certain subscription rate. The feature is available to Google Workspace Business Standard, Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Standard, Education Plus, and Nonprofit subscribers

Not available for Google Workspace Essential, Business Starter, Enterprise Essential, Education Fundals, Teaching and Learning Upgrade, Frontline, or G Suite Basic subscribers, Business Customers and for users with personal Google Accounts. This feature seems to be the most useful for big companies.
