JAKARTA - Meta reports that content related to hate speech on Facebook decreased from 13.5 million to 10.6 million in Q3 2022, due to an increase in the accuracy of the company's technology.

"We've done this by leveraging data from previous user requests to identify posts that may have been accidentally removed without the appropriate cultural context," said Guy Rosen, VP of Integrity in the Q3 2022 Meta Integration and Transparency Report, which was shared on Twitter.

With this increase in accuracy, Meta claims that the company's proactive detection rate for hate speech has also decreased from 95.6% to 90.2% in Q3 2022.

Not only that, Meta said content inciting violence also decreased from 19.3 million to 14.4 million in Q3 2022 after Meta's enhanced AI technology was able to better recognize language and emoji used in jokes between friends.

"As we improved our accuracy on this front, our proactive rate for following up on this content decreased from 98.2% to 94.3% in Q3 2022," said Rosen.

Likewise with content related to bullying and harassment, Meta managed to reduce this content in Q3 2022 from 76.7% to 67.8% on Facebook, and 87.4% to 84.3% on Instagram.

Although proactive Meta levels fell in some areas, the prevalence of harmful content on Facebook and Instagram was relatively consistent between Q2 and Q3. The company is still trying to anticipate the continued movement of content with AI improvements.
