Lyft And Motional Hope For Autonomous Taxis In Los Angeles, But It's Not Clear When It's Publicly Opened

JAKARTA - Lyft and driverless technology company Motional announced on Thursday 17 November that residents in Los Angeles will be able to order robotaxis in travel company apps. Unfortunately they did not, but did not specify when the service would be available to the public.

Strict regulatory surveillance and delayed commercial adoption of autonomous vehicle technology have delayed the deployment of robotaxi services, as well as concerned investors.

Los Angeles will be the second city where the company will offer driverless taxi services after Las Vegas.

Motional, which uses IONIQ5 Hyundai Motor Co electric cars for robotaxi services, is a joint venture between South Korean manufacturer and automotive technology company Aptiv.

The autonomous vehicle technology company also has a 10-year agreement with Uber Technologies Inc to supply driverless vehicles.

They are a competitor to Waymo, who is currently starting his autonomous ride-hailing service in Phoenix, Arizona last week.
