JAKARTA - Android has released the beta version of Health Connect to the public. This is a new app that is assimilating data from all eligible health and fitness apps through one platform.

In an example provided by Google, Peloton members can use it to sync and get credit for their Pelaton exercises in apps such as MyFitnessPal, WeightWatchers, and Lifesum, in addition to sharing training data with other fitness apps. The app also adds a central place to manage individual permits and privacy settings easily.

There are 10 well-known health, fitness and health applications integrated with services so far, including FitBit, Oura, and Flo with MyFitnessPal and Peloton. Health Connect was first announced in May, with access that was originally limited to developers building new integrations.

Health Connect was created in collaboration with Samsung to help share data between health and fitness apps, replacing previous sharing integrations requiring developers to create API connections for each app.

This maintenance is not only expensive and labor-intensive, but also makes it difficult for users to unlock their data so that they can be synchronized with other applications.

Now, Health Connect supports more than 40 data types in six categories and requires only a few rows of codes, providing standard data schemes for developers.

This not only simplifies app connectivity but also gives users more centralized privacy control, allowing users to monitor which apps have access to specific data at any given time.

Health Connect is available to download as a public beta via the Google Play Store, although it's not mentioned when the full public release will take place. Google initially stated that the app would be installed previously on new Android devices around the end of this year.
