According To Voting Results, Helium Will Transfer The Mainnet To The Solana Blockchain

JAKARTA - On Thursday, September 22, the Helium Foundation announced that it will move its mainnet to the Solana blockchain after a community vote. According to the proposal, the proof-of-coverage mechanism and data transfer will be transferred to Helium further.

Meanwhile, Helium tokens and governance will be moved to the Solana blockchain. As the developer puts it, the benefits of this move will include more original HNT tokens available for a collection of subDAO prizes, more consistent mining, more reliable data transfers, more utilities for HNT tokens and subDAO, and more ecosystem support.

As reported by Cointelegraph, Helium is a blockchain wireless communication protocol. In the same week, Nova Labs, Helium's creator, signed an agreement with US telecommunications provider T-Mobile to launch Helium Mobile, a crypto-powered mobile service that will allow customers to get crypto prizes.

Helium Mobile subscribers on this mobile package can choose to get token rewards to share data on reach quality and help identify the location of Helium's deadpoints nationwide. 5G capable device is required.

As a decentralized wireless network, Helium provides open source coverage worldwide. Since its launch in 2019, more than 900.000 hotspots using Helium have been deployed, with 1,000 units added daily.

There are currently more than 2,500 active Helium hotspots with 5G in 889 US cities since the program was active in August 2022.

Solana, Helium's new blockchain, known as the center for building decentralized applications. When viewed from voting transactions, Solana's daily transactions increased from about 100 million to 200 million per day. The number of blockchain users has surged past 1 million from May this year. Helium developers recommended the change as Solana's capacity to increase project operational efficiency and scalability.
