JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information reminded that by what has been mandated by Article 60A of Law no. 32 of 2002 concerning Broadcasting through Law no. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation, the termination of terrestrial analog television broadcasts or the national Analog Switch Off (ASO) will be implemented no later than November 2, 2022.

However, due to differences in readiness from various regions and based on the evaluation results of ASO implementation, the Ministry of Communication and Informatics decided to take a multiple ASO approach.

The implementation of ASO is based on the readiness of each region, with the target that all analog television broadcasts in Indonesia must have migrated before November 2, 2022.

The Ministry of Communication and Informatics revealed that three components are reviewed in determining the level of technical readiness of an area to apply ASO. The three components are:

  • There is an analog television broadcast in the area where the broadcast will be discontinued;
  • Areas covered by analog television broadcasts are ready to be replaced by digital TV broadcasts, and;
  • Set-Top-Box (STB) assistance for poor households in the area has been distributed.

Announcement of dates and areas that are ready for ASO implementation will be officially announced periodically.

Then, based on the Virtual Public Discussion on August 19, 2022, ASO's regional readiness is currently centered in the areas of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek).

The Ministry of Communication and Information also asks all stakeholders as well as all communities related to digital broadcast migration to continue to push for the completion of the ASO agenda on time.
