JAKARTA - NIO, a Chinese multinational car manufacturer announced the opening of its first overseas NIO plant called the NIO Power Europe Plant.
In a release given by NIO, the plant is scheduled to start operating in September and is located in Pest megye, Hungary.
The company said that with an area of 10,000 square meters, the NIO Power Europe Plant will serve as a manufacturing center, after-sales service of battery exchange stations, training for power operations in Europe, as well as R&D of electrical products.

"The launch will further enhance the deployment and efficiency of NIO Power's services in Europe, bringing a better ownership experience to European users", the company said in a statement.
It is known that NIO has entered the European market in 2021 with the launch of the ES8 model in Norway. On the other hand, its first battery mount station was installed in early 2022.
Now, the Chinese car company is focused on expanding to Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Denmark in the second half of this year with NIO's comprehensive products and services.

According to a note from InsideEVs, NIO already has more than 1,047 battery exchange stations in China (as of July 31, 2022). The stations are compatible with the NIO battery system which is available in 75 kWh and 100 kWh versions.
