JAKARTA - Twitter is reportedly testing a new feature called "Try Twitter", specifically for users who are using Twitter for the first time and don't have an account yet.

Twitter's new tool was first spotted by app researcher Jane Manchun Wong four days ago, and then product manager Laura Burkhauser, finally confirming the experiment.

According to Burkhauser, this feature will give new users the opportunity to browse through Twitter before deciding to create an account.

"Not everyone is ready to sign up for an account the first time they try Twitter. Our team wanted to give people an easy way to read tweets and experience the Timeline," he said on Twitter.

Twitter said that functionality in trying out Twitter without creating an account would be limited, and would only allow those who downloaded the Twitter app on iOS to read tweets and follow up to 50 users.

This new innovation also allows you to search for tweets, explore trending news and topics, and get notifications. However, if you want to take further action like retweeting, liking, or replying to someone else's tweet, you'll need to create an account first.

Also, while the personalization functionality is limited, Try Twitter users will be able to configure based on the people they follow and the places they've been. You can change your location settings under Settings and privacy > Privacy and security > Content you see > Browse settings.

Furthermore, Burkhauser said that this trial is only available for a small number of iOS users, but did not mention which countries would receive it.

"In the first iteration it's pretty basic, but if people have a better experience with this, we want to keep developing it."

Tests like this have previously been carried out by other applications such as TikTok. If you are a new user on TikTok, you will be able to immediately view videos on the platform without having to create an account.
