JAKARTA - Lovers of the Spotify music streaming service can now use it on an Apple Watch device without the need to connect to an iPhone like before.
This change essentially makes the Spotify app for Apple Watch more than just a remote control on the iPhone. Thus, now users do not need to bring the iPhone closer to listen to their favorite songs.
Even so, this step is a bit late because Pandora and Apple Music already support this capability. Please note, streaming music on Spotify will not work without Wi-Fi or cellular connection, and this feature can only be used on Apple Watch 3 or later and watchOS 6.0+ (7.1+ recommended).
"We focus on developing experiences that allow users to listen to Spotify wherever and whenever they want, regardless of the device or platform," Spotify told Engadget, Wednesday, November 4.
"After an initial testing period, we are now rolling out streaming capabilities for Spotify on Apple Watch," he added.
Apart from that, Spotify has also added the most recently played chapters as well as access to the music library while streaming on the Apple Watch.
However, it seems that users can't find the song they want to play because this feature is missing from the app. This means that the user's streaming experience will depend heavily on Siri, which will only display certain titles.
From the report, currently the new feature seems to be in beta, so it may not be enjoyed by everyone. And only available for users in the United States (US), in the near future will be launched globally.
