JAKARTA – Ukraine received a well-known NFT donation, namely CryptoPunk, in early March to raise funds for the war-torn country. It was recently reported that the country had sold NFT CryptoPunk #5364 and was selling at a high price.

The CryptoPunk NFT sale was announced directly by the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, Alex Bornyakov, via his Twitter tweet on June 20 yesterday.

NFT CryptoPunk #5364 has been sold to an anonymous buyer for 90 ETH for $100,000. Whereas when the NFT was sent to a Ukrainian crypto wallet, CryptoPunk #5364 was worth about 260,000 US dollars or around Rp. 3.8 billion. The decline in NFT itself was triggered by the decline in the crypto market in recent months.

From donations a few months ago, Ukraine managed to raise about 135 million US dollars in crypto. Including 6.75 million US dollars from the sale of the Ukrainian flag NFT, CoinDesk reported.

When the Ukrainian crypto wallet was made public, various sections of the crypto community contributed to their digital asset holdings. Binance boss Changpeng Zhao and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin also donated funds to Ukraine, which is at war with Russia.

The donations in crypto are used by the Ukrainian government to buy medical and military supplies to help troops who are fighting to defend the country.
