Zoom Finally Has End-to-End Encryption Feature

JAKARTA - Zoom finally granted the customer's request by presenting an end-to-end encryption security feature. This feature of course provides users with safer options when needed.

Citing ZDNet , Thursday, October 15, this feature serves to encrypt voice or video calls between users and other conference participants. Previously, Zoom has announced that it will bring this feature in May, but it will take a long time to perfect it. Users can use it for free.

End-to-end encryption , more commonly referred to as 'E2EE,' is a security technology that encrypts communication between two or more parties, ensuring that only the sender and receiver can view the content on the screen while conducting a video conference.

With the technology used, individuals or third party groups will not be able to view content. It is known, this level of security makes E2EE important in the business world and for anyone who uses sensitive data.

On the other hand, people are increasingly turning to technology as a way to keep their documents, photos and messages confidential in the event of potential leakage or individual surveillance.

For your information, this end-to-end encryption feature will be available as a technical preview for the first 30 days. Both free and paid Zoom users will have access to the feature. Zoom said, this feature can also accommodate calls up to 200 participants.

Then how do you activate it? For starters, users need a Zoom account to enable encryption. Furthermore, this feature will not work if it is not also activated by the conference organizer, he must enable E2EE in Settings, and select the E2EE option.

After the organizer activates it, participants who take part in the video conference are also required to activate E2EE, otherwise users will not be able to join. It should be noted that users cannot make calls to end-to-end encrypted meetings by phone.

Later, Zoom will notify the user that an end-to-end encrypted call is active by displaying a green icon containing a key in the upper left corner of the call.
