JAKARTA - Last week, to celebrate the anniversary of Kingdom Hearts, Square Enix officially announced the making of Kingdom Hearts 4.

Although the game is still in development, Kingdom Hearts 4 director Tetsuya Nomura revealed some interesting new details about Quadratum in an interview with Famitsu.

The main setting for the story of Kingdom Hearts 4, Quadratum is a metropolis like Tokyo presented in a realistic graphic style which is a significant start for the series.

Nomura says Quadratum is "similar to the afterlife" for Sora. “I think the theme of this project is the contrast between those in different positions,” he said, translated by IGN.

Interestingly, Nomura also revealed that although Sora will have a realistic look when she is in the Quadratum, when she returns to her original world, she will have a different aesthetic, similar to Donald and Goofy.

Kingdom Hearts 4 is in development using Unreal Engine 5. So far, Square Enix has not announced on which platform the game will be launched.
