JAKARTA - CI Games announced that the release of Lords of the Fallen 2 was pushed back to 2023. It is known, Lords of the Fallen 2 from CI Games has had a difficult development period since it was announced in December 2014.

As of 2017, the game is in development at Defiant Studios. Lords of the Fallen 2 was originally developed in collaboration with Defiant Games. In 2020, Defiant was replaced with Hexworks, a new subsidiary of CI Games.

According to its latest financial report, Hexworks boasts a team of highly experienced industry veterans from around the world who specialize in action RPGs.

A recent CI Games Consolidated Management Report reported that the game will be a “full price game” for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC with a global marketing campaign expected to begin in Q3 2022.

The sequel to this franchise has been in development by our in-house studio Hexworks since 2019. The studio's 60+ internal development team members have worked closely with other third-party developers across multiple disciplines in game development," the publisher said, quoted by GamingBolt.

Lords of the Fallen 2 will include a variety of significant improvements, including a new dark fantasy aesthetic in keeping with the prevailing action RPG, and a completely revised combat system to make it more challenging.

Interestingly, CI Games also revealed that Unreal Engine 5 will be the main engine for all the major IPs currently in development. Whether this applies to Lords of the Fallen 2 or not remains to be ascertained after there is official news from the developer.
