Recognize The Difference Between Hard Blocks And Soft Blocks On Twitter

JAKARTA - Twitter is a social media platform that has been around since 2006. Twitter can be said to be the perfect social media for anyone who missed status updates from Facebook.

On Twitter, you can upload pictures, videos, gifs and also share your thoughts on everything while staying abreast of your friends or favorite celebrities.

If you are a new Twitter user or just a casual user, you may not be familiar with many of the Twitter-specific terms. Similar to other social media platforms, Twitter offers the ability to block certain users.

However, there are two ways to do this, namely Hard Blocking and Soft Blocking. At this time, VOI will see the difference between these two types of blocking.

What are Hard Blocks?

Hard Block is usually synonymous with the word 'block' on Twitter. When you completely block someone, they can't see your tweets anymore unless you intentionally unblock them. Users will not get a notification that you blocked them.

To block a Twitter user, you need to go to their profile and click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner. Then, select Block from the context menu, and they won't be able to see your tweets again until you unblock them yourself.

What are Soft Blocks?

For random strangers, a hard block is usually your best bet. But what about people you know in real life who don't want to interact with your content anymore? Well, a soft block is your answer.

To block someone on Twitter, you will simply follow the same instructions as described above. However, if you want to do a soft block, you have to unblock it again.

The trick is to open the person's profile, click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner, select Block, then repeat the steps and select Unblock.

Doing this is the best way to go as it will only force the person to unfollow you, which means they will no longer see your tweets on their timeline and will hopefully not interact with you much.

The soft block does not prevent the person from visiting your profile and seeing all your public tweets. They may even follow you back if they realize they are no longer following you.

The biggest advantage of soft blocking is that someone could assume that it was Twitter's fault that you unfollowed each other, due to an error or something.
