JAKARTA - TikTok is reportedly testing other content creation options with the new GIF Library tool, which allows users to add popular animated content to their TikTok videos.

The GIF Library, built in partnership with GIPHY, allows users to add GIF clips to their videos, so they can record reactions, responses, create scenes, and more.

While there is already a way to insert GIFs from GIPHY into TikTok videos, it will be easier to do once users have access to the GIF Library from the app directly.

This is a nice improvement for TikTok, especially the Chinese-owned app, ByteDance it has a lot of reaction content popularity, with its Duet feature allowing users to add their own trending clips.

So instead of just watching trends develop, users can add their own perspective, which makes it easier to contribute to the app.

“GIF Library opens up new categories of entertainment content, making it easy for people to initiate or participate in their own trends, using clips from their favorite shows, GIFs, memes, and more by integrating them seamlessly into their TikTok videos. For starters, the Library will be filled with interesting and entertaining content from GIPHY, including their collection of GIPHY Clips," TikTok said in an official statement quoted from Social Media Today, Wednesday, March 30.

TikTok will begin testing the GIF Library for Android users in several markets today and on iOS next week. He plans to expand this tool to more people in the coming weeks.

Once the feature is available, users can access it by tapping the new GIF Library icon in the sidebar. After finding something they want to add to the video, the user can place it for a certain length of time and return to the recording page to continue capturing content.

For information, TikTok is not the only social media that has access to GIPHY, considering that Meta bought the GIF platform first in 2020.

However, Meta's acquisition of GIPHY has been challenged in the UK, which has delayed full integration into the platform, but technically it still owns GIPHY now, so it's a bit surprising to see GIPHY enter into a new partnership with one of its main rivals, TikTok.
