Besides Launching IPhone SE 5G, Apple Also Markets Mac Studio With Monster Chip

JAKARTA – Apple Inc. on Tuesday, March 8 launched the iPhone SE 5G which is priced, even the cheapest among other iPhone families. This phone will directly compete with Samsung and Vivo products which are targeting the middle class smartphone market. But the iPhone SE is believed to be in a class of its own, which gives the world's most valuable company an opportunity to woo consumers on a tight budget.

At the event titled "Peek Performance", Apple also introduced its fastest chipset, a new high-performance computer and brought almost all of its devices to the 5G network.

Armed with 5G technology is the first update to the iPhone SE since its launch in 2020 and will now come with 5G and the faster A15 Bionic chip.

The US$429 (Ro 6.1 million) phone gives Apple a better chance to compete with industry leaders Samsung, Xiaomi and others in the mid-range smartphone market and brings more users looking for faster connectivity in the Apple ecosystem.

For comparison, the iPhone 13 with 5G, which was launched last year, starts at $799. While the previous iPhone SE had a price tag of $399 (Rp 5.7 million). The plan is that the new iPhone SE will begin shipping to customers starting March 18.

Apart from the iPhone SE, Apple also launched the iPad Air which this time gets its first refresh in two years with a new design, 5G connectivity, and the faster M1 chipset found in MacBooks.

Claims from Apple, this advanced chip will make the device twice as fast as the best-selling laptop in its line. This iPad version is priced at US$599 (Rp8.6 million) and will be available starting March 18.

Apple also unveiled a new internal chip, the M1 Ultra, which is made by combining two M1 Max chips, previously Apple's most powerful chip for MacBooks. This chip is twice as fast and will load in the newly launched Mac Studio.

Apple also launched "Mac Studio," a powerful high-performance computer for musicians, video editors, and filmmakers.

Mac Studio uses the M1 Max chip, which is 3.4 times faster than a regular iMac, while the chip with the M1 Ultra is 80% faster than Apple's top Mac Pro.

With a 27-inch "Studio Display" 5-K retina display, MacStudio looks similar to a MacMini, and can be tucked under the screen.

The Mac Studio, the first of its kind, costs $1,999 for the version with the M1 chip and $3,999 for the computer loaded with the M1 Ultra. Studio Display itself is valued at 1,599 US dollars (Rp. 23 million).
