JAKARTA - Teams users will be able to display their LinkedIn profile on the video conferencing application. This new feature will be coming soon.

In the company roadmap, the change will allow users to view their coworkers' LinkedIn profiles in chats. Users will be able to view information about a person's profile via the LinkedIn tab in the 1:1 chat panel.

That means users can find out more about their co-workers. This feature is quite useful when planning a project or looking for help with orientation.

Even so, the update is currently still in development. Microsoft projects the feature's release date to be March 2022. It's also noted that the feature will be generally available to all global users across web and desktop versions of Microsoft Teams.

There is no doubt that the company integrates the two services, as Teams continues to grow over time, with the latest figures showing that the service now boasts more than 270 million monthly active users (MAU). Likewise, LinkedIn is equally successful.

Cited from TechRadar, Tuesday, February 8, Microsoft bought LinkedIn back in 2016 for an estimated $26.2 billion as it wanted to gain a foothold in the social media space. So far, the move has proven successful, with Microsoft's latest financial results showing that Productivity and Business Processes, which includes Microsoft 365 and LinkedIn, rose 19 percent year on year to $15.9 billion.

Recently, however, LinkedIn has struggled to re-enter the potentially lucrative Chinese market, launching InCareer, a completely new app for Chinese users only, after the company was forced to withdraw its standard offering.

Apart from China, LinkedIn appears to be enjoying strong growth in other markets. Microsoft recently announced the launch of the Services Marketplace worldwide for freelancers, added a Hindi language option, and opened the service to over 600 million speakers globally.

Recent data compiled by software company StarLeaf found nearly all (97 percent) of businesses say that tools like Zoom, Webex, and Teams are now essential to their work.
