BlackBerry Injects Off Its Operating System Next Week, Goodbye!

JAKARTA - The former king of cellular BlackBerry decided to inject the BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry Playbook OS operating systems next week, January 4, 2022 to be exact.

With both operating systems turned off, phones and tablets will also be inoperable, which will stop some of their core functions, including making phone calls, text messages, or even emergency calls to 911.

BlackBerry says that WiFi and cellular data can also become disabled, with apps like BlackBerry Link, BlackBerry World, BlackBerry Protect, BlackBerry Messenger, BlackBerry Blend, and BlackBerry Desktop Manager all going to be limited.

That means, if the user has a phone running BlackBerry 10 or BlackBerry 7.1 OS or earlier, then on January 4, 2022 it won't work again.

Currently, users can still connect to the internet via WiFi and mobile data, but many apps won't work properly.

Many websites will refuse connections from devices without the latest security protocol support. This announcement may not come as a surprise, considering the company closed its app store in 2019 alongside the once-popular BBM service.

Despite switching to Android in 2015, BlackBerry has failed to develop its smartphones since the arrival of Apple's iPhone, and has slowly shifted from a hardware company to a software manufacturer. This was quoted from Liliputing, Friday, December 31.
