JAKARTA - Naughty players who often cheat are increasingly being found in online multiplayer games. Even if they have been blocked, they will come back with a new account. Now Krafton has a solution.

Cheating has become a major problem in Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) aka the local version of PUBG Mobile. Krafton constantly bans player accounts for cheating to ensure a fair gaming experience for other players.

To address this issue, Krafton will permanently ban devices and accounts of players caught cheating in order to stop repeat infringers. However, it remains to be seen how this affects the fraud case at BGMI.

"If illegal program use is detected with a mobile device by the security logic that has just been implemented, the device will be permanently banned from using BGMI," said Krafton, as quoted by 91Mobiles, Tuesday, December 28.

"Previously, sanctions were only imposed on account holders, but now mobile devices will also be banned, making fair gameplay much more effective."

This is not a new approach to gaming. The reason is, PC games like Valorant also issued a hardware ban for cheaters using the Vanguard anti-cheat software. A similar approach has proven to be effective in BGMI.

However, developers of third-party cheating tools have found a way to bypass anti-cheat measures as well as hardware bans in PC games, which BGMI might as well.

With the device ban, BGMI is now expected to have fewer cheaters. Addressing problems such as fraud requires evolving technology, and it has now been adopted by Krafton.
