WhatsApp Prepares Features In Groups That Can Prevent Users From Hoaxes

JAKARTA - This year WhatsApp has launched many new features for its users, which gives them the convenience of using instant messages with various advances, including a new feature for group chats.

According to a WABetaInfo report, WhatsApp is claimed to be giving group admins the ability to delete messages sent by other group members. This is quite important, because WhatsApp wants its users to be aware of restrictions on sending messages to other users in the group.

Indeed, now WhatsApp only allows the original sender of the message to delete their messages. The app also doesn't allow these messages to be deleted after a certain period of time from being sent, even by the original sender.

Most likely, this new feature will soon come to the application. Seen screenshots uploaded by WABetaInfo show that WhatsApp group admins were finally able to delete messages posted by other group members.

“This has been removed by admin,” the screenshot reads. This indicates that WhatsApp is in the early stages of testing the feature for some early testers.

Quoting Digital Trends, Tuesday, December 21, this feature will not come alone, along with it, WhatsApp is allegedly about to launch a suite of content moderation tools, which is likely to help the instant messaging app shed its predicate as a hotbed of fake news.

It all started when the Forward feature had been blamed for several horrific incidents around the world, particularly in India, where unchecked rumors had led to several cases of lynching and mob justice.

The fact that both the content moderation tool and the content has the potential to save lives is good enough reason to launch it as soon as possible. Previously, WhatsApp had also restricted the ability of non-members to send messages to groups and banned non-compliant members.

Although some of the features above look interesting and very useful, it's a shame that this feature has not yet entered one of WhatsApp's beta releases, and it is not known for sure when it will be officially released.
