JAKARTA - Last month Instagram had planned to change the duration of its Stories feature from 15 seconds to 60 seconds, and now the social media is realizing its plan in a trial version.

First reported by Instagram users in Turkey, the Meta-owned app has notified several users of the change. Currently, if a user records or uploads a video longer than 15 seconds, it will be automatically split into multiple Stories.

However, with this new change, users will be able to upload videos to Stories that are up to 60 seconds long without having to split them into sections. Videos up to 60 seconds will no longer be segmented.

It should be noted, 60-second Stories uploaded will still be live for 24 hours. The arrival of this feature is, of course, Instagram in another attempt to beat Snapchat and TikTok.

Reported 9to5Mac, Saturday, December 18, in addition to the extension of the duration of Stories, the company is also testing a changed interface for uploading Stories, this will make it easier for users to mention other accounts or add locations to posts.

However, it's not clear when or if Instagram will make this change available to all users worldwide, as currently only a few users in certain countries like Turkey will be able to post longer Stories in the trial version.

As TikTok is becoming more and more popular and Snapchat recently introduced a new standalone app for content creators to edit their videos, it's no surprise that Instagram is making its platform more attractive to those who like sharing videos on social networks.
