JAKARTA - Former US first lady Melania Trump has launched a non-fungible token (NFT) and blockchain technology venture. She joins a list of celebrities offering digital memorabilia to capitalize on the trends around the asset.
The first NFT, named "Melania's Vision", is watercolor art by artist Marc-Antoine Coulon, and "embodies Melania's cobalt blue eyes", according to a statement issued by Melania Trump's office. This NFT will be available in the market for purchase between December 16 and December 31.

NFT is a digital asset that uses the blockchain to record the ownership status of the digital object. The blockchain functions as a public ledger, allowing anyone to verify the authenticity of the NFT.

Earlier this year celebrities such as Argentine soccer star Lionel Messi and top sprinter from Jamaica, Usain Bolt, also launched their own NFT collections.
A portion of Melania Trump's NFT proceeds, which will be released periodically, will also support children growing up from the foster parent system.
"Through this new technology-based platform, we will provide children with computer science skills, including programming and software development, to develop as they grow out of the foster community," Melania said, as quoted by Reuters.
