LinkedIn Returns To China, But Users Can't Upload Content!

JAKARTA - It's been two months since LinkedIn closed its application in China, and the brand has brought back its new version of InCareer application to the country.

InCareer still includes a job search site similar to LinkedIn, but was created to suit users in China, and is already available on the web and can be downloaded via iOS and Android apps.

InCareer users will find job recommendations and how to find them, tools for recruiters and messaging features. On the recruiter's side, they can find and engage with potential candidates in Mainland China and around the world, including those who are not actively looking for a new job.

Recruiters have access to up-to-date insights on more than 800 million users, and they can use advanced search filters, and connect with potential candidates via personalized InMail or pre-built templates.

"Today's launch of InCareer is just the beginning. Over the coming months we will build on this foundation, with feedback from our members and customers, to develop a world-class experience," said LinkedIn representative Mohak Shroff as quoted by TechRadar, Wednesday, December 15 .

As a side note, InCareer does differ from the local LinkedIn version in a number of key ways. This app no longer features feeds like social media or the ability to share articles and uploads.

Users can only maintain profiles, which makes it a bit like Facebook before News Feed came along. While LinkedIn didn't explain why, removing social feeds was likely a key factor in being able to operate the service in China.

In recent months, LinkedIn has made various strides toward world domination or, at least, professional networking market dominance including launching a worldwide Services Marketplace for freelancers and adding Hindi language options, as well as opening the service to more than 600 million speakers globally.
