JAKARTA - Alphabet Inc's Google made an announcement to its employees that they will lose their salaries and could eventually be fired if they don't follow the COVID-19 vaccination rules. This was reported by CNBC on Tuesday, December 14, citing their internal documents.
A memo circulated by Google's leadership said employees have until December 3 to declare their vaccination status and upload documentation showing evidence, or to apply for a medical or religious exemption, according to the report.
According to the CNBC report after that date, Google said it would begin contacting employees who had not uploaded their status or were not vaccinated and those whose exemption requests were not approved.

Employees who don't comply with vaccination rules by January 18 will be placed on "paid administrative leave" for 30 days, followed by "unpaid personal leave" for up to six months and subsequent termination of employment.
Google itself did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Reuters, on the document circulating in the media.
Earlier this month, Google postponed plans to return to the office indefinitely amid fears of the Omicron variant and some resistance from its employees to company-mandated vaccinations. Previously it was expected that staff would return to the office for about three days a week starting January 10.
