JAKARTA - Tesla Inc boss, Elon Musk, said on Friday, December 3 that the Cybertruck from the electric car manufacturer which is highly anticipated by the public, will appear with a high-end four-motor variant.

"Initial production will be 4 motor variants, with very fast and independent response torque control at each wheel," Musk said in a tweet.

Musk himself calls the electric pickup truck a "tech-crazy bandwagon." Musk also said the Cybertruck will have front and rear wheel steering that "not only [turns] like a tank - it can drive diagonally like a crab."

The vehicle will compete with pickup trucks such as GMC's Hummer EV, Ford's F-150 Lightning and Rivian's R1T. Of all that, the R1T is driven by four individual motors driving all four wheels and the Hummer GMC can drive diagonally.

Tesla's pickup truck, first announced in 2019, is made of stainless steel used in rockets and Musk was said to have received several hundred thousand orders for the Cybertruck when pre-orders opened a few months ago.

Musk said he would provide an update on the product roadmap on his next earnings call. Production of the Cybertruck is expected to begin next year and reach production volume by 2023.

Tesla has so far avoided a major meltdown from supply chain woes and a global semiconductor shortage, issues that have cost the automaker long.
