JAKARTA - Epic expanded its portfolio by buying Harmonix, the developer of the early Guitar Hero titles before moving on to create the Rock Band and Dance Central franchises.
Now Harmonix will join Epic Games, but they are still working with music. It's not known exactly how many deals Epic gave Harmonix.
However, in a post on their website, Harmonix said they would, "work with Epic to once again challenge expectations as we bring our unique brand of music gaming experience to the Metaverse, and we're very excited," Harmonix said.
That means both Epic and Harmonix will enter the world of the metaverse by adding a touch of music. The company also says that it will work on creating a music and gameplay journey for Fortnite. Most likely, both will give a touch of Harmonix music in Fortnite.

Quoting Slashgear, Wednesday, November 24, Epic acquisitions like this are always accompanied by a lot of questions given Epic's ongoing battle for market share against Steam. Harmonix stated that it would continue with plans to expand the Rock Band DLC, Rock Band Rivals season, and Fuser event, so nothing has changed in that regard.
Despite being acquired by a competitor, Harmonix stated that its games will remain on Steam after the acquisition. Epic itself has no authority over game studio Harmonix and removed their games from Steam to move to the Epic Games Store.
But this once happened when it acquired Rocket League developer Psyonix. After the acquisition was complete, Rocket League disappeared from Steam and was listed on the Epic Games Store as a free-to-play title, although anyone who already owned the game through Steam could continue to play through that platform.
