PUBG Mobile Is Officially Competed At The 2022 Asian Games

JAKARTA - PUBG Mobile was officially competed at the 2022 Asian Games Hangzhou, China. The game, which was co-developed by Lightspeed and Quantum Studios from Tencent Games and KRAFTON, was competed with seven other esports platforms.

"It is an honor for PUBG Mobile to be included in the 2022 Asian Games. We are very fortunate to have a number of talented players from several countries in the region and we can't wait to see them compete, as part of this prestigious championship," said Director of Global Esports Tencent Games James Yang in an official statement, Sunday, November 7th.

"Fans of the game can look forward to exciting competitions between the best PUBG Mobile players in the region, as they celebrate with the best athletes in Asia," he added.

According to the schedule, the Hangzhou Asian Games will take place from September 10 to September 25, 2022 and for PUBG Mobile this is the first experience to be part of an official sport.

The Asian Games is a multi-event championship every four years and is a place for the best Asian athletes to compete. The Championship is also under the control of the International Olympic Committee as the second largest event after the Olympics.

The Asian Games was the first place to pave the way for competing esports representation, where in 2018 esports began to be competed only as exhibitions and in 2020 and 2022, esports is part of the official program and medal contest.

At the 19th Asian Games, PUBG Mobile will join seven other games in this program, which include: Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, EA SPORTS FIFA branded soccer game, Hearthstone, League of Legends, Street Fighter V.

As one of the largest and most accessible esports programs in the world, the PUBG Mobile esports circuit has seen massive growth in 2021 with 14 new leagues and a total prize pool of US$15,000,000 for the year, the highest in mobile esports history.

The inclusion of PUBG Mobile at the 2022 Asian Games demonstrates PUBG Mobile's continued growth worldwide as one of the most popular mobile esports games, having recently surpassed over one billion downloads worldwide.
