JAKARTA - Amellya Nur Sifa made history by reaching the final of the 2021 BMX World Cup or UCI BMX Supercross World Cup which was held in Sakarya, Turkey, Sunday.

As reported by Antara, Sunday, October 31, Sifa was able to show off in the eighth round of the women's U-23 category even though at the start of the race she was only able to finish fifth with a record time of 41.292 seconds.

These results are not enough to make it directly qualify for the semifinals. However, Sifa was able to maximize the last opportunity by placing second with a record time of 41.358 seconds.

She finally qualified for the semifinals. In this phase, Sifa showed good performance when competing in heat 2 and finished third after posting 40.425 seconds.

This achievement led her to qualify for the final along with seven other participants from various countries. Unfortunately at the top party, she was only able to finish in sixth place after posting 40.648 seconds. While the champion was won by the French representative, Lea Brindjonc, who finished ahead with a record time of 38.676 seconds

However, Sifa's work deserves appreciation because this is the first time that Indonesia's representatives can reach the final in the BMX World Cup.

Head of the Development and Achievement Division of the Indonesian Bicycle Sports Association (PB ISSI) Budi Saputra said young Indonesian athletes continue to show progress.

Moreover, Sifa is actually still in the junior category, but she is able to compete with athletes in the U-23 category.

"History for BMX Indonesia from Amellya Nur Sifa, after only reaching the semifinals in World Cup Rounds 5, 6 and 7, finally in World Cup round 8, she was able to enter the final and improve her skills," Budi told ANTARA, Sunday night western Indonesia time.

Budi said that young Indonesian athletes still have a long way to go. His party will continue to finalize the performance of young Red and White athletes by sending them back to various other international events.

"We continue to prepare and finalize their performance and flying hours to compete at the world level. Thank you to the General Chairperson of PB ISSI for your support and support," Budi added.

In the BMX World Cup in Turkey, apart from Sifa, Indonesia also sent two other athletes, namely Jasmine Az-Zahra and Aditya Fajar Putu Soekarno.

Indonesia should have sent four representatives. However, Budi said Muhammad Alfauzan suffered an injury while competing in the Netherlands so he was forced to miss.
