PSG Vs Lille: Angel Di Maria Makes Goals And Assists, Les Pariseiens Rise To Subdue Les Dogues

JAKARTA - Angel di Maria led Paris Saint-Germain to rise and beat Lille 2-1 in the French League Week 12 match at the Parc des Princes Stadium, Paris, Friday local time.

PSG had fallen behind on Jonathan David's goal, but Di Maria provided the assist for Marquinhos' goal before finding the net for Lille with his own foot to let Les Parisiens turn things around in stoppage time.

Citing Antara, the additional three points further solidified PSG's position at the top of the standings with a collection of 31 points, while the defending champion Lille slipped to 11th place with 15 points.

Mauricio Pochettino, who had doubts about his ability to appear, was actually introduced by Mauricio Pochettino from the start, but PSG struggled to build a dangerous attack against Lille who used a high defense.

Even Les Dogues came close in the first minute after cutting through Messi's cross and Burak Yilmaz curling a shot past Jonathan Ikone's cross, lucky for PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma to parry the ball.

PSG was only able to find their rhythm after 20 minutes of the game, but Di Maria's shot after meeting Messi's pass was still too weak and easily saved by goalkeeper Ivo Grbic.

Lille instead managed to steal the lead over PSG in the 31st minute when David escaped the offside trap to continue Yilmaz's cross with a calm strike that outwitted Donnarumma.

Lille's lead lasted until half-time and should have doubled it in the 57th minute if only David had been more careful to snag the ball from Yilmaz's narrow-angle shot which Donnaruma painstakingly cleared before crossing the line.

PSG's hard work to get back up finally paid off in the 74th minute when Marquinhos stood free in the Lille box and met Di Maria's cross with a powerful effort that Grbic couldn't anticipate. PSG one, Lille one.

PSG's momentum continued and they came close to turning things around when Neymar slotted home Mauro Icardi's precise through ball, but the Argentine forward failed to find the target in the 85th minute.

Three minutes later, PSG took the lead when Neymar returned to Di Maria and the former Real Madrid man met it with a first-touch shot that rolled under Grbic.

The 2-1 score lasted until dispersal, after Lille's last chance in a corner kick ended with a touch that was too heavy from Renato Sanches.

The two teams will play again next Saturday, when PSG travels to Matmut Atlantique against Bordeaux while Lille host Angers at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium.

Before that, they will first appear in the Champions League. PSG fly to Germany to face RB Leipzig on Wednesday, October 3, the day after Lille traveled to Sevilla in Spain.
