JAKARTA - The Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) has obtained permission from the Task Force for Handling COVID-19 to continue the League 1 competition in early October. The head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Doni Monardo, said the league could roll out with the implementation of strict health protocols.

Not only that, the Chair of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force also said that he would help when the competition rolled on. In fact, the COVID-19 Handling Task Force promised to provide swab test assistance to PSSI.

This news is clearly a breath of fresh air for PSSI and the club of course. The reason is, this assistance can reduce the cost of expenses considering the cost of the swab test which is fairly expensive.

Regarding this assistance mechanism, PSSI will still hold a meeting with the COVID-19 Handling Task Force. PSSI Acting Officer (Plt) Secretary General of PSSI Yunus Nusi said a follow-up meeting would be held after Eid al-Adha.

"There will be a follow-up meeting between PSSI and BNPB deputies," said Yunus Nusi to VOI, Thursday, July 23.

The man who is also a member of the PSSI Executive Committee also talked about the steps to be taken after getting the "green light" from the COVID-19 Handling Task Force. To be sure, PSSI is ready to continue the competition which was stopped due to the pandemic.

"PSSI will continue and hold competitions," he said.

As requested by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, PSSI and PT Liga Indonesia Baru will hold a competition with strict health protocols. In addition, the match will also be held without spectators as long as the COVID-19 pandemic is still in progress.
