When In Top Performance, Nothing Can Stop Wrong

JAKARTA - Mohamed Salah made headlines again over the weekend when he scored Liverpool's second goal in a 2-2 draw with Premier League champions Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

Salah has now scored in each of his last seven appearances for Liverpool, matching his best record since joining the Reds. In total, he has scored nine goals.

So good was Salah's performance that the Egyptian was compared to the likes of Lionel Messi, although he didn't really pay much attention to that.

"I don't want to say I'm happy with this kind of comparison," Salah told Egyptian TV channel ON E.

“Each of them has been at the top level for 10 or 11 years. Their performance level is stable.

"I need to maintain my high performance level for a few seasons. I hope I can do that. They are great players and hopefully I'm happy with this comparison."

Whether he wanted that comparison or not, it was inevitable as long as he continued to play at this level.

Salah is fine and really getting back to his best and in this form there's not much to stop him.

While his brilliance is no secret, Salah's goal against Manchester City exceeded even his usually high standards. His touch, footwork, trickery of defenders and finishing are impressive. Those who watch him play and train every day will admire his work.

"It was incredible," Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson said of Salah's second-half goal on Sunday. "He keeps beating players and he's lethal in that position."

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp joined his captain in praising the Egyptian.

"Only the best players in the world score goals like this," added Klopp.

“The first touch, the first shallenge he won, then putting it on his right foot and finishing the situation was absolutely incredible.

"This club never forgets these things so people will be talking about this goal for a long time - in 50 or 60 years they will remember this goal."
