Former Khabib Coach: It's Not McGregor Jake Paul Should Fear But Alvarez

JAKARTA - Speculation about the Jake Paul versus Conor McGregor fight is getting louder. This time, former coach Khabib Nurmagomedov Javier Mendez also commented.

McGregor, of course, has more experience than Paul in combat sports. however, that experience comes in the form of MMA (mixed martial arts). Not pure boxing like Paul has.

No wonder Mendez believes The Problem Child has various advantages over The Notorious.

"Jake has benefited so much from Conor," Mendez told MARCA, Thursday, September 30.

"The size is a big one and the fact that he's been boxing for over three years with excellent boxing professionals who know what they're doing."

In contrast, Mendez believes Paul should fear boxing legend Canelo Alvarez more.

"He should be afraid of people like Canelo," said the coach.

"He would only destroy it in one round, that would be a shame.

“He doesn't stand a chance against people like that, so he really should stay away from him – but against Conor he really has a chance.

"Looking at those two, Jake has a huge advantage in size and strength. Yes, he has no fighting experience, but he's been boxing for a long time. Conor doesn't really box."

Lastly, Mendez realizes that Paul is not the best boxer in the world, but if he chooses his fights well then he has a real chance.

"I have direct knowledge of seeing Jake do his job," he said.

"I have a video that his coach sent me and I've spoken to the people he was up against.

"That guy is legit (as a boxer). He's a real boxer. Don't get me wrong, he's not a top level player. You can't be top level with three professional fights, but he has skills and he has strength and he has great training.

"He really did. And he's a great athlete, so put all that together and he's gaining momentum."
