Messi Said, Barca Would Lose Against Napoli If They Played Like Against Osasuna

JAKARTA - Lionel Messi showed frustration after Barcelona lost 1-2 to Osasuna at the Camp Nou on Thursday, July 16 evening. The reason is, at the same time, Real Madrid beat Villarreal 2-1 to win La Liga.

The Barcelona captain admits things have not gone well this season. For that, he said, everything needs to be changed.

"(Defeat at) Roma, Liverpool ... the fans are running out of patience because we didn't give them anything," Messi said after the match to launch MARCA on Friday.

"If we want to win the Champions League, a lot has to be done. (Playing) like this, we will lose to Napoli."

"I said a while ago it would be difficult to win the Champions League; we don't even have (games that are) enough (good) to win La Liga ..."

When asked about Real Madrid, the Argentine accepted his team's defeat this season.

"Madrid did what they had to do," Messi admitted.

"After being suspended (due to the pandemic) they didn't lose a single match.

"We lost a lot of points we shouldn't give up and we have to be critical of ourselves, starting with the players, then everyone.

"We are Barcelona and we have to win every game."

There is a lot of anger at Camp Nou, both among the players and the supporters, and Messi talks about this.

"The people at the club are very angry and that's normal because we are angry too," he said.

"People are running out of patience and that's normal because we haven't given them anything."
