Harvey Elliott's Nasty Injury And His Current Development

JAKARTA - Liverpool beat Leeds United three goals without reply in the fourth Premier League match at Elland Road on Sunday night. However, the victory came at a price following the nasty injury suffered by Harvey Elliott.

Elliott, who has had a superb start to the season, picked up the injury in the 60th minute after Pascal Struijk tried to snatch the ball away from him. The ankle of the young star of the Reds was dislocated.

Liverpool's medical team, Dr. Jim Moxon and chief physiotherapist Chris Morgan, promptly put Elliot's ankle back in place before he was taken to hospital for further examinations.

The talented winger is in danger of being sidelined for quite some time and this leaves coach Jurgen Klopp in despair.

"It's a bad injury", Klopp said as quoted by the Daily Mail, Monday, September 13.

"He played an amazing game again, he's an amazing player. Now he's injured. Would I want a youngster like that to have this experience early in his career? No, but that's how it is. We have to support him and we will support him.

"We will play without him but we will wait for his recovery because obviously, he is a top, top, top player. I saw what happened and I could see the effect right away because I could see his feet – not in the right place. That's why we were all surprised, of course".

Upon arriving at the hospital, Elliott posted a photo on social media. Incredibly, in the photo, he is seen giving his worn-out shoes and jersey to a boy on the next bed whose arm is broken.

Klopp considers it a kind of sign that his mental state is quite optimistic.

"This is one of the few Instagram posts that I really like", said Klopp. "It shows he is no longer in pain, which is great news", Klopp said.

"Apart from that, there's not a lot of good things to say because obviously, it's a bad injury. We have to wait now, just for the first assessment and scan. That's what we do".

Through his upload, Elliott also expressed his gratitude for the prayers and support from the fans.

"Thank you for the messages guys! Road to recovery. YNWA", wrote Elliot with a heart emoji.

Meanwhile, Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa stressed there was no malicious intent in Struijk's tackle. He also did not indicate that the club would appeal the red card, saying referee Craig Pawson's decision was correct.

"I felt the movement of the whole body after he (Struijk) won the ball made him hit Elliott", said Bielsa. “I truly believe there was no ill will. The difference here is that the follow-up, with speed and power, causes injury.

"I'm very sorry that a young player playing at such a high level got injured. I hope he (Elliot) can come back to play"

Currently, Elliott has left the hospital and will undergo surgery in the coming days.
