JAKARTA - Tiger Woods' backup putter from the sensational 2002 season has sold for $393,300, according to Golden Age Golf Auctions.
The price paid for the Scotty Cameron putter, according to reports, makes it the most expensive golf equipment ever sold.
The putter is specially manufactured by Cameron for Woods and comes with a letter of authenticity.
Woods won five tournaments, including the Masters and US Open, in 2002.
Fifteen-time major tournament champion Woods practiced and experimented with the putter but did not use it in competition, according to auction house Golden Age Golf Auctions.
"There are just a few pieces of sports memorabilia that we believe will be collected over the centuries - Babe Ruth's baseball bat; Muhammad Ali's boxing gloves; Michael Jordan's basketball shoes," the auction house said. August.
