JAKARTA - The men's singles badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting recorded his second win in the Tokyo Olympics Group J preliminary round after winning 21-12, 21-10 over Russian athlete Sergey Sirant.

In the match which took place at Musashino Forest Sport Plaza Tokyo, Wednesday, Ginting ended the resistance of the left-handed badminton player with two 35-minute straight games.

Ginting, ranked fifth in the world, did not experience any significant problems in his effort to beat the 77th-ranked badminton player.

Ginting played two games at a moderate tempo, with occasional pressure to finish off Sergey's defence. In addition to taking the initiative to attack, Ginting's score also benefits from the mistakes made by his opponent.

The quality of the athlete's game playing under the flag of the Russian Olympic Committee cannot be compared to Ginting's. Sergey often made service errors to targeted punches, which added free points for Ginting.

Even in the match point of the second game when the score was 20-10, Sergey failed to serve when the ball from his shot hit the end of the net, ending the match on the spot.

The result of this match ensures Ginting advances to the round of 16 and is still waiting for potential opponents for the next round.

At 17.20 WIB, it will be Jonathan Christie's turn to face Singapore's Loh Kean Yew.

Previously, Jonathan had won one victory over Aram Mahmoud, a badminton player from Syria who is currently competing with the Olympic Refugee Team (ROT).
