JAKARTA - El Presidente, Amazon Prime Video's latest series raised the scandal in the International Football Federation (FIFA). The series features a satirical take on the sordid South American football.

The series will feature South American football through the eyes of Julio Grondona, former President of the Argentine Football Association (AFA). Grondona passed away in 2014.

He is a huge figure in Argentine football. The man who goes by the nickname "godfather" has led the association for more than three decades.

"I find it very interesting to imagine Don Julio telling the story from the other side ... He told it casually after living it and there is no burden for him," Armando Bo, director and executive producer of the project told Reuters.

"This is one of those cases where truth is stranger than fiction. So, I was kind of forced to make it comedy, satire," said Bo.

The series will also highlight the rise and fall of Sergio Jadue who was appointed President of the Chilean Football Association in 2011. Under his leadership, Chile won the Copa America.

Jadue's success was marked by scandal. FIFA's Ethics Committee boycotted him in 2015. In his lifetime, Jadue could no longer deal with the world of football.

Previously, Jadue was an informant in the corruption scandal surrounding FIFA. He pleaded guilty to extortion and fraud.

The series was shot in several cities in Latin America, Europe and the United States. Bo, winner of the 2015 Oscar Best Original Screenplay for the super cool Birdman, brought a number of stars to El Presidente.

They are Karla Souza (How to Get Away with Murder), Andres Parra (Pablo Escobar: The Drug Lord), and Narcos star, Paulina Gaitan. Grondona will be played by actor Luis Margani.
