On Crossing From Milan To Rival Inter, Calhanoglu: I'm Not The First And Won't Be The Last

JAKARTA - New Inter Milan player Hakan Calhanoglu understands and thinks it is normal for Milan fans to be angry with his decision to cross to Inter.

He added that the transfer of players from Milan to Inter or vice versa was not the first and he would not be the last.

"It's normal for (Milan) fans to be angry, but I'm not the first to do this and I won't be the last, many players have gone from Milan to Inter, or vice versa," Calhanoglu told DAZN quoted from Football-Italy, Thursday.

Calhanoglu explained he was thinking about his future and insisted he still values Milan after four years at the San Siro.

Even so, the Turkish player will continue to look forward to preparing for his new journey with Inter.

"I only see my future, with all due respect to Milan. I've done a lot for Milan for four years, I respect everyone, but I have a new chapter at Inter and am looking forward to it," explained Calhanoglu.

Calhanoglu joined AC Milan from Bayer Leverkusen in 2017 for a transfer fee of 23 million euros or around Rp. 394 billion.

During four seasons playing for Milan, Calhanoglu recorded 172 appearances in all competitions and contributed 32 goals and 48 assists.

He then revealed that only coach Stefano Pioli wanted him to stay at AC Milan before deciding to cross to Inter.

"Pioli was the only one who really wanted me to be at Milan. I spoke to him several times, but he respects my decision and wishes me the best," said Calhanoglu.
